September 11th is always will always been a somber day as we think about all the lives lost and changed forever in the horrific attack on the United States.
The events of that terrible day and the weeks, months and years that followed are never forgotten, nor are the memories of those killed by terrorists at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. Additionally, we remember all those who have died from 9/11-related illnesses from their heroic work at ground zero and those who suffer today.
This morning at the memorial plaza in New York City friends, family, survivors, and rescuers gathered 17 years later. Beginning with a moment of silence and the tolling of bells at 8:46 am, the time that the first tower was hit.
