Oxygen Forensics has released version 17 of their flagship software, Oxygen Forensic® Detective, introducing several key features and enhancements to aid digital investigations.

Key Features in v.17.0:

  • Speech-to-Text: Investigators can now convert spoken language from audio and video files into written text using the built-in speech-to-text engine. This feature supports over 50 languages and operates offline at no additional cost.
  • Enhanced Android Extraction: The software now supports full file system extraction from unlocked Android devices running OS versions 9 through 14, with security patch levels up to June 1, 2024. This enhancement broadens the range of devices from which data can be extracted.
  • Passcode Brute Force: New capabilities allow for brute-forcing passcodes on encrypted Microsoft Office files and RAR archives, enabling access to previously inaccessible data.
  • Bit-by-Bit Disk Copies: Investigators can create exact replicas of storage media, ensuring data integrity during analysis.
  • Import of vCard Files: The software now supports importing and parsing vCard files, enriching investigations with valuable contact information.

Key Features in v.17.1:

  • Automatic Device Detection: Upon connecting a device, Oxygen Forensic® Detective automatically identifies it and displays available extraction methods, streamlining the data acquisition process.
  • VeraCrypt Support: The software now includes passcode brute force capabilities for containers and partitions protected with VeraCrypt, expanding decryption options for investigators.
  • ArduPilot Log Data Import: Support has been added for importing ArduPilot log data in BIN and TLOG formats, allowing detailed analysis of drone flight history, including geocoordinates, orientation, flight modes, and battery status.
  • TikTok Account Data Import: Investigators can now import and parse TikTok account data, accessing information such as authorization history, last known location, account details, followers, direct messages, blocked users, posts, and search history.
  • Selective Malware Scanning: Users can customize malware scans by selecting specific files and folders within the Files section, enhancing targeted threat detection.
